TAFT, CA – Last Thursday on October 10, the Taft College Women's Golf Team competed in their sixth conference tournament at Buena Vista golf course in Taft. Besides a little bit warmer weather and a very hilly course, it was still a great day for golf. There were only three teams present for this match: Reedley College, Fresno City College, and Taft College. These ladies all played a solid round of golf displaying a competitive field of scores.
Leading the way for the Taft Cougars was Felicia Contreas shooting a 97. Behind Felicia was Kara Gonzales with a 105 and Sam Galvan finished the scores with a 129. Unfortunately, Rylee Davis was not able to finish the round leaving the Cougars with a team score of 331.
Taft College Head Women's Golf Coach Romeo Lagmay, Jr. expressed his comments, "These girls are working hard every day at practice and even on their own time. The improvement can be seen every single day. Keep up the great work ladies!"
Fresno City College had a total score of 288 with 3 active players and Reedley College closely followed with a team score of 313. It was a very impressive round of golf for all of these players.
With only about six weeks left until State finals, all the women throughout the conference are working extremely hard, practicing daily, and improving non-stop. This is such an exciting time for these players and the next few weeks will be an interesting set of matches to see.
The Cougars next competitions are set for October 15 in Madera at Dragon Fly Golf Course and October 17 in Dinuba at Ridge Creek Golf Course. This will be conference tournaments number 7 and 8, respectively.
