
TAFT, CA – The Taft College Cougars Baseball Team played the Fresno City Rams this past Thursday, April 17 for a conference game.
Fresno got things going right out the gates putting up two runs in the first to gain the early lead. They then put up one run in the 5th and two more in the 6th to extend the lead to 5-0.
The Cougars offence remained cold until the 8th innings with loaded bases Aiden Otano steps up to the plate and hits a deep fly ball to right field for a sacrifice fly scoring Rhett Hodgins. Caleb Garvin and Sebastian Montoya were key parts of the pen putting up two 0's to give the offense a chance.
In the 9th inning, Yadriel Reyes hit a hard hit ball up the middle for an RBI scoring Odnal Rivera. The Cougars would fall short, being defeated 5-2 in the end.
Taft will play at Merced College this Tuesday and only has three more games left of the regular season. The Cougars will return home to play College of the Sequoias on Wednesday at 2:00 pm.
