
TAFT, CA – Taft College Women's Volleyball player outside hitter Grace Witcher was voted women's volleyball state player of the week by the California Community College Athletic Association.
The 6'0 sophomore from Liberty High School in Bakersfield, is 2nd in kills per set in the state with 4.67 kills per set.
In the 6 sets last week, Grace accumulated 31 kills, averaged 5.2 kills per set, hit .456, 17 digs, 2 block assists and had 7 service aces.
Against Lemoore College, Grace had 5 kills per set, 15 kills total, only 1 error, on 32 attempts (hitting a .438). She also had 8 digs and 2 block assists. Against Columbia College, Grace had 5.33 kills per set, 16 kills, 4 errors, 25 attempts (hitting .480). She also had 7 aces, 9 digs, 7.67 points per set, and passed a 2.7!
Taft will play at home next Wednesday, November 13 at 6:00 pm against Porterville College. The Cougars currently are sitting in second place in conference at 12-2 and ranked #15 in the state.
