TAFT, CA – On Thursday, October 24, the Lady Cougars Golf Team played at their home course Buena Vista one last time this season. It was also Sophomore Day, where they honored their only sophomore, Felicia Contreras.
Felicia has done so well this season and has improved every single match. Starting with a score of 109 and bringing it all the way down to an 87 is remarkable. She was a leader for the team and worked so hard to get to where she is now.
Taft College Head Women's Golf Coach Romeo Lagmay, Jr. shared his comments, "We wish Felicia the best as she continues her athletic and academic journey! Not only was it sophomore day, but it was also the first golf match where there was a fan attendance from Taft College. Though small in numbers, we were so thankful for those who came out to support the team!"
Felicia Contreras shot a 92 and Kara Gonzales shot a 103, while Samantha Galvan and Bella Carson had to withdraw due to injuries. Freshman Ryle Davis will be out for the rest of the season due to medical issues.
The next match is on October 28 at Belmont Country Club in Fresno.
