The Taft College offense couldn't get much going and suffered a pair of losses to Central Valley Conference-leading College of the Sequoias on Saturday in Visalia. The Cougars dropped the opener 13-1 and fell 10-0 in Game 2.

Taft scored its lone run of the day in the top of the first inning in Game 1. Andres Garza led off with a single and later came in to score thanks to a two-out, RBI-double by R.J. Munoz.

From that point, it was all COS. The Giants scored three runs in each of the first three innings and poured it on with four runs in the fourth.

Starter Luis DeLeon took the loss for TC after allowing seven earned runs and 10 hits over three innings. On offense, Christian Wilson and Blake Logan both had two hits each.

Game 2 started off well for the Cougars as starter Jordan Eldred kept Sequoias off the scoreboard for the first two innings. But COS finally broke through with single runs in the third and fourth before rallying for four runs in the fifth.

Taft had its chances in the contest but left nine runners on base. TC totaled seven hits, getting a pair from Genta Yamazaki (2 for 4).

Eldred was handed the loss after allowing six earned runs and eight hits over five innings.

Taft fell to 1-12 overall and 1-9 in the CVC after Saturday's losses. The Cougars return to action on Tuesday (May 4) when they travel to Fresno City College for a 5 p.m. conference game.
