The Cougars hosted game 2 of the three game set against conference foe Reedley College. Tyson Canfield took the mound tossing 4.2 innings and suffered a taxing loss giving up 5 runs with just 2 of them earned. Matt Rogers came out of the bullpen to pitch 3.1 shutout innings, and Kaivon Kealoha got work in the ninth.
Taft struck early in the first when Richard Ortiz singled to drive in Austin Pendergrass. Taft's last 3 runs were tacked on in the fourth inning when Fabian Gutierrez singled to drive in Ortiz, then a balk along with a ground ball by Shane Kotz created 2 more runs.
The Cougars will look to avoid the sweep on Saturday at Reedley College.
