TAFT, CA – The fifth Taft College Women's Basketball player to sign a national letter of intent to play at the next four-year level is sophomore Jasmeen Lemons.
Originally from Houston, Texas, Lemons has decided to continue her career in Virginia Beach, Virginia at Regent University. The 5'7 guard will play for new Head Women's Basketball Coach Donte Minter. Regent competes in the NCCAA (National Christian College Athletic Association).
In her lone season at Taft College, Lemons averaged 6 points and 2.5 rebounds, shooting 70.5% from the free throw line. She appeared in 27 games with four starts. With a cumulative 3.8 GPA, Lemons was an Academic All-State and Conference athlete, as well.
Coach Minter commented, "We are excited to have Jasmeen coming to Regent University. We think she will fit in great with our team and look forward to her being a game changer when she arrives."
Taft College Head Women's Basketball Coach Romeo Lagmay, Jr. chimed in, "Jas is an athletic player with a long wingspan. It's easy for her to draw fouls driving to the basket. Defensively, she is productive in a trap scenario, and able to create deflections and interceptions in the passing lane. She is a very sound student academically, as well. Once again, she is an ideal student athlete displaying her success both on and off the court."
