Reedley Basketball Native Brings Talent to Taft College
TAFT, CA – 5'10 forward/post player Martha Godinez of Reedley High School has committed to play for Taft College Head Women's Basketball Coach Romeo Lagmay, Jr.
Coach Lagmay said, "Martha will be instrumental in her position. She can stretch the floor full and half court. Her energy matches ours, and that results in positive results. We're excited to work with her in Cougar Country!"
Reedley High School plays in the Tri County Conference in the Kings Canyon League. This past season they went 10-18 overall in division 4. In the 2023 season, they were the TCC Sequoia League undefeated champions. Godinez played the last two seasons on varsity earning Second-Team All-Conference and Teams Defensive Player of the Year in 2025. She was also named on the All-Tournament Team after scoring 11 points in the championship game at the Madera South Tournament. Godinez averaged 5 points, 7 rebounds, and 1 block shot per game.
Reedley Head Girl's Coach Mikki Rodriguez had this to say about Godinez, "Martha made a great decision in choosing Taft. New place where she can be challenged and grow surrounded by a great team and coaching staff who makes it feel like a home away from home."
Godinez shared her comments as well, "I chose Taft College for its welcoming atmosphere and strong sense of community. The basketball program in my opinion is exceptional, with hardworking and talented individuals who made me feel like family."
