Taft falls 72-53 to Chaffey

Three Cougars scored in double figures with sophomore Bree Johansen leading the way with 12 points in a 72-53 Taft College loss to visiting Chaffey College on Wednesday.

The Cougars couldn't keep the momentum going from Friday's win over Hartnell College and dropped to 2-6 overall after the loss.

TC got off to a slow start and trailed 14-8 after the first quarter and was down 32-23 at halftime. But the Panthers outscored the Cougars 23-12 in the third to put the game out of reach.

Precious Ramos totaled 11 points and 8 rebounds and was matched by Avianna Perez's 8 points along with 4 rebounds and 3 assists.

Mahaila Laulu added 8 points and 6 rebounds while Kayla Iwata chipped in with 6 points and 5 rebounds.

TC is back in action on Friday (Dec. 10) when it will compete at the two-day Allan Hancock College Crossover in Santa Maria. The Cougars open play against Cuesta College at 5 p.m. and are scheduled to face host Allan Hancock on Saturday at 3 p.m.
