
Game 1: Powerful Pitching Performance from Ava Heitman Carries Cougars Past Chabot
Ava Heitman was dominant in the circle, as the starter rang up 11 strikeouts in Taft's 5-2 victory over Chabot College on Tuesday. Heitman surrendered five hits and two runs over seven innings while walking one.
Chabot got on the board in the first inning after Connie Rodriguez scored after tagging up.
The Cougars took the lead in the bottom of the third inning after Cadence Mizner singled down the left field line, Laie Keahi doubled to center field, and Cougars scored on a wild pitch, each scoring one run.
Astrofigh Wyatt took the loss for Chabot. The pitcher went three innings, surrendering two runs on three hits, striking out none and walking three. Katrina Longoria started the game for Chabot. The hurler gave up five hits and three runs over two and one-third innings, striking out one and walking one.
Mizner drove the middle of the lineup, leading the Cougars with three runs batted in. The 3-hole hitter went 2-for-4 on the day. Leadoff hitter Kate Moore led TC with three hits in four at bats. Isabella Navarro and Keahi each collected multiple hits for the Cougars. Moore stole two bases. The Cougars had patience at the plate, tallying four walks for the game.
Longoria and Aracely Macias Delgado were a one-two punch in the lineup, as each drove in one run for Chabot. Ana Roldan went 2-for-4 at the plate to lead Chabot in hits. Chabot turned one double play in the game.
Game 2: Jada Mizner Leads Cougars Past Chabot
Jada Mizner was dominant in the circle, as the right-handed pitcher rang up 13 strikeouts in Cougars's 8-0 victory over Chabot on Tuesday. Mizner allowed two hits and zero runs over five innings while walking none.
Cougars scored six runs in the third inning on the way to victory. Kate Moore singled, scoring one run, Cadence Mizner doubled, scoring one run, Laie Keahi doubled, scoring two runs, and Ava Heitman singled, scoring two runs.
Astrofigh Wyatt stepped in the circle first for Chabot. The pitcher allowed six hits and six runs over two and one-third innings, striking out none and walking one.
Mischa Mott led the Cougars with two hits in two at bats. Keahi and Heitman each drove in two runs for Taft. Cougars ran wild on the base paths, collecting four stolen bases for the game. TC were sure-handed and didn't commit a single error. Keahi made the most plays with 13.
Katrina Longoria and Aracely Macias Delgado were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected one hit for Chabot College.
