TAFT, CA – Taft College Baseball faced Coalinga College on February 20, for game two in Taft.
Julian Orozco started for the TC Cougars. Julian got right to business and put up 0 after 0 giving the Cougars a big chance to win. The offense struggled in the beginning, not scoring a run until the 5th inning when Aiden Otano smashed a ball over the left field fence putting the first run on the board. Julian would continue to take care of business without allowing a run through 7 innings with 9 strikeouts.
Coalinga answered back in the 8th inning, chipping 1 run, tying up the game. In the bottom of the 8th, the Cougars bats came to life. With a two-out rally, Odnal Rivera singles scored Many Esparza. The Cougars would keep the train moving, scoring 2 more runs. Roman Roberts stepping up to the plate would put the final nail in the coffin by hitting a two-run bomb making the score 7-1 and winning the game.
