Taft College defeated #2 ranked Mt. SAC on Saturday, 12-8. Wesley Hebert and Jade Smoot both hammered out 2-for-4 performances with a double and 2 RBI's. Tyler Gardner went 2-for-4, Alec Olsen had an RBI single in the second, and Jacob Cruz hit a 3 run inside the park homerun past the diving centerfielder. Jayce Gardner went 2-for-5 with an RBI.
Bryan Santiago picks up his third win of the year in relief, tossing 2 innings and allowing 1 run. Micah McCulley closed out the last two innings, and Tait Ludwick had a competitive outing of relief allowing 4 runs on 3.2 innings of work early in the game.
The Cougars will look to build momentum heading back into conference play when they open up a three game series against Cerro Coso College at Ridgecrest on Tuesday. First Pitch is at 2:00 pm.
