On Tuesday, Taft hosted the first of a three game set against the Blue Devils of Merced College. The Cougars outhit their opponents 11-9 but could not find a way to bring home enough runs.
Jayce Gardner and Travis Turner both went 3-for-4 at the plate. Turner roped a line drive over the left centerfield wall for a solo homerun in the sixth inning.
Will Moore got the start on the bump and took the loss by giving up 3 runs on 3 hits and 4 walks. Five other Cougar pitchers got work out of the bullpen.
