Taft College has hired Lori Murphy as the new athletic secretary and eligibility specialist in the athletic department. Lori replaces Jennifer Edmaiston, who recently retired and served in the same capacity for the last 25 years.
Murphy was most recently working as a Financial Aid Tech, eventually being promoted to a Special Programs Coordinator focusing on the Promise Program and Scholarships at Taft College.
She is a Taft College Alum, graduating with a criminal justice administration degree in 2016. Murphys holds a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice with a minor in psychology from California State University at Bakersfield.
Director of Athletics Kanoe Bandy commented, “I am so excited to have Lori Murphy join the Athletics family. I knew that it would be very difficult to replace Jennifer Edmaiston after the many years of service that she has put into the Athletic Department. Lori will continue what Jennifer has built and will bring her experience to the position. We will work together to do what is best for our student athletes.”
Murphy expressed her remarks as well, “Since starting at TC, I have seen a rise in the culture and competitive levels of the athletics program, and teams and I am excited to continue to build upon that as the athletics secretary. It is a privilege to be able to join the incredible athletics staff and use my skills in my previous roles to increase enrollment and help our student athletes reach their goals.”
