Taft College volleyball defeated Columbia College in Sonora in 3 sets. After travelling almost 5 hours, the team had a slow start dropping 1-9 in the first set. They battled back to win the first set 27-25. The second set was close as well. Taft was down this time 18-23 and again made a comeback to win set two, 26-24. They won the final set 25-14.
Allison Mizener kept Taft in the game defensively by digging 27 balls followed by Erin Fujitani with 20. Makanalani Kane and Luse Lumas had 3 blocks each. The kill leader was Erin Fujitani with 12 kills, followed by Makanalani Kane with 9 and Luse Lumas with 7. Emily Salazar had 30 assists. This was a good win for Taft College since they were facing a solid blocking team.
Taft College will play at home this Friday October 6th at 6:00 pm vs Porterville College. It will be the Breast Cancer Awareness game, where the price of admission is a donation to Breast Cancer Awareness. The proceeds from the match will stay right here in Taft to help our local citizens who are battling Breast Cancer.
