TAFT, CA – There is no denying that homelessness is truly an epidemic in our country. The issue is becoming increasingly relevant as it pertains to our Veterans who have served our country in the United States Armed Forces. Statistics at are an all-time high among homeless Veterans.
The Taft College Baseball Team has partnered with Kern County's Portrait of a Warrior: a sock drive for homeless veterans. New socks, beanies, gloves, thermals, and underwear are requested to be donated to various businesses and organizations in Kern County. TC Baseball has provided box stations on campus where donations can be made.
All items donated will benefit the California Veterans Assistance Foundation and will be delivered to veterans located in Kern County. The Socktober event is active from October 1-31.
