2015       Enrique Garcia – California State University, San Bernardino

Enrique played defensive mid and helped lead the team to another CVC title. Enrique had the ability to slow the game down and distribute the ball offensively from a defensive position, often hitting accurate long balls to streaking outside mids or early crosses to the forwards. Enrique also earned a starting spot at right-back on the 2014 team that made it to the State Finals.

 

2015       Aldahir Perez - University of California, Irvine

Alda was our team captain and a very good utility player. He played multiple positions and was able to master each one. Truly a team player, Alda put his body on the line every game to insure victory. Alda lead the team to a CVC title and another playoff birth. Alda was also a huge role player for the 2014 team that only lost one game and made to the State Finals. Alda was part of the 2015 CCCSCA All-Region Northern California Team.

 

2015       Axel Cruz - California State University, San Bernardino

Axel was a hardnosed, physical player that played right-back. Axel had a skill set that allowed him to contribute in other roles for the team when needed and he would sometimes play outside mid. Axel brought such a high level of physicality and defensive technique that he was able to shut down some of the state’s best forwards. Axel was also a huge role player his freshman year on the 2014 team. He got the assist, in overtime, on the winning goal that propelled Taft to the State Finals.

 

2015       Zachary Satton - San Diego Christian

Zach played goalkeeper and came to Taft having already played a year of soccer at another college. Zach had good size, strength, heart, and a true blue collar mentality on the soccer field. Zach was a big part of the team and always willing to give everything for the success of the team.

 

2014       Ruben Alvarez - California State Univerisity, Fullerton

Ruben played defensive mid and was a general on the field for a 2014 team that was 21-1-2 and one of the best teams in the nation. Ruben was CVC MVP and a West All-Region player. His field awareness, technique and work ethic was unmatched. He controlled the game from start to finish both defensively and offensively. 

 

2014       Ramon Chavez - California State University, Fullerton

Roman played sweeper and was the "rock" in the defensive line. He had a very calm demeanor and was never rattled when he found himself in pressure situations. He was called upon several times to save us in tight games by lending help on the offensive side of the ball scoring 9 goals and assisting on 2 others, all from the backline. Ramon was a great leader and captain, he was great player on the field and an even better person off of it. Ramon was 1st team CVC and Defensive Player of the Year.

 

2014       Oscar Torres - California State University, Fullerton

Oscar played forward, he was very smart and crafty on the ball. He was a major problem for opposing defenses, when he wasn't scoring he was assisting. A great playmaker from the forward position, Oscar helped dictate the pace of the game and was a big reason why our possession game was so potent. Oscar finished the season earning CVC 1st team award and Offensive player of the year.

 

2014       Edgar Rodriguez - California State University, Fullerton

Speed, strength, power and a great will set Edgar apart from other offensive mids. He was relentless in his attacking mindset that combined with the want to put immediate pressure on an opposing defense, which made the game easier for the rest of his teammates. Edgar was a captain and one of the hardest workers on the team. His freshman year he was 1st team CVC and CVC Most Valuable Player. His sophomore year he was 1st team CVC and Midfielder of the Year.

 

2014       Diego Casillas - California State University, San Bernardino

A quick and relentless outside mid, Diego always made sure to put his imprint on a game. His speed and stamina on the flanks allowed him to constantly break down the opposing team and get service into the box. He was always up for a challenge sometimes even filling in as forward and when needed. Diego was always in attack mode and was more than a handful for any defender but what set Diego apart from others was is will to play defense for the team. Diego was a top midfielder in the conference earning a CVC 1st team award.

 

2014       Trevon Demison - California State University, Northridge

Trevon played right and left back. He was a big, strong, and fast defender with knack for getting involved on the offensive side of the ball. His freshman year he scored 6 goals. Whenever he was called upon to shutdown the other team's top offensive player the task was always completed. Trevon was one of the best defenders in the state and finished the season as a CVC 1st teamer.

 

2014       J.D. Cisneros - California State University, San Francisco

J.D. was one of the top goalkeepers in 2014 because of his amazing shot-stopping abilities. Iron will and determination helped J.D. play a major role in one of the best defenses we've had at Taft College shutting out 12 teams that season. J.D. received All-American honors as well as Goalkeeper of the year for the CVC Conference.

 

2013       Mario Andres Iniguez - California State University, Bakersfield

Andres played a defensive-mid role in his two season with the Cougars. Strong and fearless Andres helped make it impossible for other teams to get into any type rhythm. It didn't matter if the other player was faster, taller, or stronger Andres was just too much of a menace defensively. The coaching staff often refers to him as the hardest tackler of the ball to come through the program.

 

2013       Luis Jimenez - California State University, San Bernardino

Luis played center-back for the Cougars. Luis had a no nonsense way about getting the job done. He played every game with all of his heart and all ways left everything he had in him out on the field. Luis's toughness and size were great attributes to have anchor the backline in 2013. In 2011 Luis helped the team reach the 2nd round of playoffs making key defensive plays in big games.

 

2013       Gerardo "Puma" Gonzalez - University of California, Irvine

Puma played right-mid. His quickness and skill on the ball made him one of the best in the state at his position. 99.9% of the time Puma was the smallest guy on the field. He would be seen blazing by opponents often requiring them to try to double team him. Skill, technique, speed, and a high level of fitness made him a true weapon for the 2012 team his freshman year. Unfortunately he suffered an injury that kept him out most of his sophomore year.

 

2012       Jose Gonzalez - California State University, San Bernardino

Jose, older brother of Charlie, played right-back. Jose was an attacking minded right back that kept opposing teams on edge with his late runs down the right side. His skill, speed, and defensive awareness helped him mark some of the best attackers in the state out of the game. Jose was a big part of the 2012 team's defensive dominance. Jose earned 2nd team all CVC Conference his second year.

 

2012       Andy Reyes - California State University, San Bernardino

Andy was definitely a handful for opposing  teams to deal with. He played offensive-mid and his timing on runs was impeccable. Deceptive and elusive Andy often found runs behind the backline where he would either score or find a teammate for the assist. He wasn't the biggest or fastest but he definitely showed time and time again that he possessed the most heart, incredible skill, and a high IQ. Andy earned Academic All-Conference honors his freshman year.earned 1st team all CVC Conference his sophomore year.

 

2012       Juan Carlos Gonzalez (Charlie) - California State University, San Bernardino

Charlie was a skillful and talented player who played right-mid. Charlie's work rate and execution made him very dangerous on the wing. His ability to work up and down the field left his opponents gasping for air. He was a key player that helped the 2012 team reach the state finals. Charlie earned 1st team all CVC Conference in his sophomore campaign.

 

2012       Roberto Mariscal - California State University, San Bernardino

Roberto played forward and offensive mid. The majority of the time Roberto played a solo striker role and was a menace for opposing defenses. Roberto was a very good scorer but he was even better at getting his teammates involved in the game... a true playmaker. Roberto was 1st All-CVC his freshman year and he earned CVC Mid-fielder of the Year his sophomore year.

 

2012       Roberto Gonzalez - California State University, San Bernardino

Roberto was a goalkeeper that helped Taft College win conference in 2012 and make it all the way to the state finals. He started his college career in 2010 and suffered an ACL injury in 2011. A very Determined Roberto came back in 2012 and anchored a backline that had 11 shutouts and 9 in a row. Roberto earned Academic All-Conference honors and was an Honorable Mention in league his freshman year. He was the CVC Keeper of the Year as a sophomore.

 

2012       Edgar Contreras - University of California, Los Angeles

Edgar played center-back and sweeper. Bigger, stronger, and faster would best describe Edgar. He helped the Cougars reach the 2nd round of playoffs his freshman year. His sophomore season he returned with a focus on being the best and became a team captain. He was the best defender in the state in 2012 and led the team to the state final four. Edgar earned 1st team All-CVC his freshman year. His sophomore year he earned All-American honors and was CVC Conference Defender of the Year.  Started at CB with UCLA in the 2014 DI national championship game.

 

2011       Zayd Flores – California State University, Bakersfield

Zayd was a very fast and athletic utility player. He played right back, center back, right mid, and forward. In his freshman season Zyad helped Taft College make the playoffs often playing a center back role. He also received Second Team All-League honors in his freshman campaign. In his sophomore season he was the teams second leading scorer and a Jockey Club Award recipient. Zayd scored the winning goal vs. Lassen College in the 1st round of playoffs.

 

2011       Greg Quintero- California State University, Bakersfield

In his freshman campaign, played on the 09' team that went to the State Finals. In hissophomore season Greg played center back and left back. Greg was a very good defensive player for Taft, he was strong, good in the air, and a good one on one defender. His sophomore year Greg helped the team reach the second round of playoffs and he received 1st Team All CVC honors.

 

2011       Pablo Nunez- California State University, Los Angeles

Pablo was a very versatile player who played multiple positions and he was very good at all of them. Pablo read the game very well and was one of the best players to have come through Taft at anticipating his opponent. He earned 1st Team All-Conference and was team captain his sophomore year.

 

2010       Ricardo Sandoval - California State University, Los Angeles

Ricardo played right mid and forward.  He had great endurance and work ethic. Ricardo helped Taft College reach the 2nd round of playoffs in the 2010 season.

 

2009       Miguel Ibarra - University of California, Irvine - 2012 MLS Supplemental Draft (27th overall pick) Portland Timbers/currently with Minnesota                      Stars FC

Miguel is one of the best players to come through Taft College. Probably the fastest player with the ball at his feet; opposing teams were forced to double or even triple team Miguel. Every team in California's game plan was to stop Ibarra but with superior speed, skill, and next level talent Miguel always found a way to leave his stamp on the game.

 

2009       Christian Hernandez - University of California, Irvine

Christian was a speedy and skillful right mid/forward. Christian did whatever it took to win, playing just as hard on defense as he did on offense and doing both at a high level. Christian is also one of the best direct free kick takers in Taft College history. He simply put up numbers; scoring 25 goals and assisting 17 times in two seasons.

 

2009       Chris Sandoval - California State University, Sacramento

Chris was a center-mid that took the role of starting forward in 09' out of necessity.  His high soccer IQ and superior skill helped lead a very potent Cougar attack. He played with a nagging back injury for most of his career as a Cougar and it still didn't stop him from dominating his opponents even when they were twice his size.

 

2009       Alex Caceres - Professional Indoor Soccer League-Monterey Flash

Alex was one of the best outside mid-fielders in not only the state but also the nation. Quick, agile, and with great ball control Alex carved through opposing defenses and provided many assists with precise crossing. Alex, also known as "Parce or Colo" will always be remembered as one of the most dynamic players to come through the program.

 

2009       Sergio Cedano - California State University, Los Angeles

Sergio, affectionately known as "Box" was the epitome of what Taft College soccer is all about. He will always bleed black and gold. An imposing defensive mid-fielder that was dominant in the air and did the dirty work in the middle of the field to make sure the team earned the victory. Sergio captained the 09' cougar squad to the state finals and a final national ranking of #7.

 

2009       Aurelio Sanchez - California State University, Los Angeles

Aurelio played center back for two seasons. He helped lead a backline that was one of the best in the state. Aurelio's aggression and leadership was an undeniable asset to the team as evidenced by him missing the championship game in 09'. The Cougars fell just short of winning a 2nd state championship.

 

2009       Tyler Coombes - California State University, Los Angeles

Tyler possessed two of the best qualities a great competitor on a team could have... dependability and consistency. His great speed and endurance made him a dangerous center-mid. Tyler was a "work horse" in the middle of the field often doing the things to get the wins that don't show up on a stats sheet.

 
 

2008       Osvaldo Lopez - California State University, Los Angeles

"Ozzie" was an undersized center back that helped TC win a State Championship and get a final national ranking of #2. What Ozzie lacked in size he made up for in toughness and aggression. Ozzie's non- stop work rate helped solidify a defensive back line that so far is the best in Taft College history.

 

2008       Tony Hernandez- California State University, Los Angeles

Tony started at right back on the 2008 squad.  He marked and shutdown some of the state’s best forwards often facing opponents twice his size. Tony received 1st team all CVC in 2008 and was on the 2007 state championship team.

 

2008       Taylor Rivas- University of California, Santa Barbara /California State University Los Angeles

Taylor was probably the state’s best center back in 2007 and 2008. He received 1stteam all CVC honors in 2007 and was CVC defensive player of the year in 2008 as well as an All-American nominee.

 

2008       Hector Macias- California State University, Los Angeles

Hector was a player that could play multiple positions. He was on the 2007 state championship team.  He also received 1st team all CVC in 2008.

 

2008       Jorge Serrano- Notre Dame De Namur

Jorge was a speedy right back. He was also a member of the 2007 state championship team.

 

2007       Oswaldo Hernandez-Notre Dame De Namur

Oswaldoa played Center Back his freshman year and Right Back his sophomore year. In his two seasons he helped lead Taft to the State Finals twice winning the championship game in 07. He was CVC All Conference twice, 1st Team All Conference twice as well as CVC League MVP. 

 

2007       Ronald Leiva- Notre Dame De Namur

Ronald was a key member that helped Taft College reach the state finals two years in a row as well as winning the State Championship in 2007. The coaching staff looked at Ronald as a “Coach on the field.” He was also on the President’s list for his excellence in the classroom.

 

2007       Juan Barajas- Notre Dame De Namur

Juan played forward and outside left midfield. He was a definite game changer and was a huge reason Taft College won the league in 2006. He was a two-time state finalist, state champion, and 2nd team all CVC.

 

2007       Jacob Zavala- Notre Dame De Namur

Jacob played forward and outside midfield.  He was a member of the 2007 state championship team.

 

2007       Waldemar Guiterrez- Notre Dame De Namur

Waldemar was a two time state finalist and state champion.  Better known as Vale, he played left midfield and forward.

 

2007       Leo Nunez- Notre Dame De Namur

 Leo was an outstanding right back on the state championship team.  In 2007 he received a Certificate of Special Congressional Recognition, EOPS Certificate of Excellence, Honorable Mention list, CVC Academic All Conference, and CVC All Conference 2nd team.

 

2007       Luis Astorga- Notre Dame De Namur

Luis played forward and was voted CVC offensive MVP in 2006.  Luis excelled in the classroom having a 4.0 almost every semester.  He was on the President’s list and was CVC Academic All Conference.  He was a two-time state finalist and state champion.

 

2007       Christian Perez- Notre Dame De Namur

Christian played defensive mid.  His free kick against Hartnell in the final seconds of the game propelled Taft College to the 2007 state finals.  Christian was second team all CVC in 2006 and first team all CVC in 2007.

 

2007       Jonathan Hernandez- Notre Dame De Namur

Jonathan played right back for two seasons.  He was honorable mention all CVC and was a state champion in 2007.

 

2007       Carlos Aguilar- University of California, Irvine

Carlos played forward and was voted first team all CVC twice.  Carlos helped Taft College make it to the state finals two years in a row.  He scored the winning goal in overtime that won the 2007 state championship game. Carlos also helped Division I UC Irvine finish 10th in the nation.

 

2007       Victor Chinchilla- University of California, Irvine

Victor was the starting goalkeeper for two years.  In those two years Victor made it to the state finals twice, winning it in 07’.  Victor was CVC goalkeeper of the year and was the state championship MVP.

 

2006       Javier Astorga- University of Nevada Las Vegas

Javier led the 2006 team to its first CVC championship and state finals.  He played center back the entire season, and was the captain as well as a role model off the field. He was awarded first team all CVC.

 

2005       Omar Rodriguez- California State University, Fullerton

Omar was a team captain and controlled the midfield. He helped the 2005 team to a 15-4-2 record and a first round bye. Omar scored 7 goals and had 10 assists that year. Omar was named CVC offensive player of the year.

 

2004       Valentine Sanchez- California State University, Los Angeles

Valentine was a starting fullback for two years. He was one of the best defenders Taft has ever had. He would often mark up the best player on opposing teams. Valentine was named first team all conference.

 

2003       Jovan Delaney- California State University, Los Angeles

Jovan was a two year starter who was our enforcer in the middle.  Jovan was a great student-athlete with a huge game and always gave 100% on and off the field.

 

2002       Kevin Lundy- California State University, Bakersfield

Kevin played one year for Taft College.  After suffering from a knee injury in high school he had to play the entire year on a vulnerable knee.  Kevin was a starting midfielder for Taft College and did an amazing job despite having to play through pain.

 

2002       Lorne Howlett-  University of California, Irvine

Lorne was the captain and starter at Taft College for two years.  He was one of the hardest working players Taft has ever had.  He was often able to run for two players. Lorne was a forward who also played midfield to secure a victory for the team.  Lorne always had a “never give up attitude” which landed him a division I Scholarship.
