Maybe it was home court nerves. Playing at home for the first time this season on Thursday, Taft College totaled just 14 points over the first two quarters and ultimately suffered a 65-47 loss to Allan Hancock College.
The loss dropped the Cougars to 0-4 overall.
Allan Hancock outscored Taft 22-10 in the first quarter before the Cougars went cold in the second. Taft managed to score just four points in the period and trailed 43-14 at halftime. The Cougars went on to outscore the Bulldogs 33-22 over the remainder of the contest, but the deficit was too much to overcome.
Freshman Maysan Raleigh came off the bench to score a team-high 17 points to go along with 6 rebounds. Sam Washburn totaled 14 points and Kaylani Proctor chipped in with 7 points.
Taft returns to action on Saturday (Nov. 16) when the Cougars travel to Hartnell College in Salinas for a 2 p.m. non-conference game.
