The Taft College offense exploded for 24 runs over a pair of games on Thursday to roll to a doubleheader sweep at Hartnell College in Salinas.
Sophomore Allie Dobbs smashed her state-leading sixth home run of the season as part of a 2 for 4, 3 RBI effort in a 13-4 Game 2 win over the Panthers. Victoria Rosales also drove in three runs in the contest, going 3 for 4 with a double.
Taft rallied for five runs in two separate innings in the second game and totaled 10 hits off Hartnell starter Jennifer Segura.
Isabelle Martinez pitched well for the Cougars despite battling the strike zone. She went the distance for the victory, allowing four runs and three hits but walked 12 batters. Martinez helped her own cause at the plate, driving in two runs with a pair of hits.
Game 1 saw the Cougars take advantage of seven Hartnell errors in their 11-5 win.
Calli Martin smacked a solo home run at hit a sacrifice fly while Jessica Silva had two hits to lead Taft at the plate.
Abrianna Carr earned the complete-game win, allowing five runs and 13 hits.
Thursday's wins evened up Taft's overall record at 7-7. The Cougars will look to continue their winning ways on Saturday (Feb. 23) at 11 a.m. when they travel to Barstow Community College for a doubleheader.
