Cougars rally late only to get walked off in ninth, drop Game 1 of NorCal Playoffs 12-11 at Sacramento City

After staging an amazing four-run rally in the top of the ninth inning to tie up the game, No. 13-seeded Taft College couldn’t come away with the win and dropped Game 1 of its California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) Northern California Regional Playoff series at No. 4 Sacramento City College by a final score of 12-11 on Friday.

Fresh off their impressive 30-4 rout at Antelope Valley College on Saturday, Taft College was named the No. 13 seed for the upcoming California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) Northern California Regional Playoffs. The Cougars will travel to face No. 4 Sacramento City College in a best-of-three game series that starts on May 3.

Taft College suffered just its second Central Valley Conference series loss of the season after splitting the final two games against Merced College. Following their marathon 14-inning loss to the Blue Devils on Tuesday, the Cougars fell 9-6 on Thursday in Taft but salvaged a 12-10 victory on the road in the finale on Saturday.
