Taft Volleyball Gets Bye, Advances to 2nd Round in State Playoffs

NORTHERN CALIFORNIA PLAYOFFS BRACKET


TAFT, CA – The top 40 volleyball teams in the state of California have been selected to advance in the State Playoffs and compete for the Championship. There are 20 teams from the south and 20 teams from the north that have been seeded among the best for the California Community College Athletic Association to determine who will be crowned State Volleyball Champions. Taft will be the #12 seed going into next week's matchup.

Taft College Women's Volleyball ended their season 3rd place with a 11-5 record in the Central Valley Conference and an 18-10 overall record. Led by Head Coach Mallori Rossi, the Lady Cougars were fortunate to receive a bye in the first round and will play in the second round against #5 seed American River College. American River placed 2nd in the Big 8 Conference with a 14-2 record, 22-6 overall.

Coach Rossi shared her remarks, "I am very proud of our team for making it to playoffs and earning such a high seed. This is something we have been talking about as a team since July when the team first reported for summer school. We've come a long way from where we started but we still have a long way to go as we soar towards our goals.

The winner between Taft and American River will advance in the third round of state playoffs in the NorCal bracket. A 20-team Single Elimination Bracket, the winner will move on to face the victor between #4 seed Sierra College and the winner between #13 Consumnes River College or #20 Los Medanos College.

Taft will travel to North Highlands, California next Tuesday, November 21 to try and claim victory against American River College.
