Volleyball Opens Up Second Round of CVC Play with Win

TAFT, CA – On Friday, October 13, Taft College Women's Volleyball Team challenged the Columbia College Claim Jumpers, and claimed victory to start off the second round of conference play.

The Lady Cougars started off strong, taking the first set 25-17, followed by the second set 25-12. However, the Claim Jumpers fought back and tried to take the third set. But it was Taft that came out on top as they won the third and final set 25-22.

Taft wins this match on the road for a 6-3 conference record and third place standing in the Central Valley Conference.

TC Volleyball Head Coach Mallori Rossi shared her comments, "It was great being able to start our second round of conference with a win. As a team, we served very aggressively, and we were able to get into a rhythm with our service receive. We will continue to fine-tune our offense as we go into our matches next week."

The Cougars will be on the road next Wednesday, October 18, challenging College of the Sequoias at 6:00 pm, followed by Porterville College, at home, on Friday, October 20 at 6:00 pm.

October 20 is the annual designated date volleyball, as well as both soccer teams, will highlight Breast Cancer Awareness Month called Dig Pink. Taft's campus will host a tailgate party function prior to the volleyball contest against Porterville College.
