TAFT, CA – Last week on Wednesday, September 20, Taft College Women's Volleyball challenged the Porterville College Pirates. Both Taft and Porterville fought long and hard, but it was TC that came out on top, winning the match in four sets.

The Lady Cougars made it clear that they were there to take care of business, taking the first two sets (25-23 and 25-21). However, the Pirates came from behind and took the third set (14-25). However, Taft was determined to win this match. The Cougars won the fourth and final set 25-23.

"The ladies have been working hard at practice and in the weight room, and it is showing in their results," said Volleyball Head Coach Mallori Rossi. Coach Rossi pushes the team to become better people and players. She holds each player accountable, and in return these ladies are disciplined and well-rounded on and off the court.

Coach Rossi continued, "As a team, we have been focusing on raising the bar in terms of daily expectations in the gym, and it made a big difference in our match against Porterville. Our defense has been much more disciplined, allowing us more opportunities offensively. We had some very long rallies tonight and it was our defense that prevailed."

Taft is set to play Merced College at home, on Wednesday, September 27 at 5:00 pm, followed by West Hills Coalinga, in Coalinga on Friday, September 29 at 6:00 pm.
