TAFT, CA – On Friday, September 15th, Taft College Women's Volleyball challenged College of the Sequoias in the Al Baldock Cougars Sports Center Gymnasium.

The Cougars started strong, taking the first and second sets 25-9 and 25-22. However, COS did not give up just yet. They came back and won the third set, 19-25, as well as the fourth set 24-26.

Taft was determined to come back and hold down Cougar Country. With help from the amazing fans and spectators in attendance, Taft was able to take care of business and win the fifth set 15-12.

"Tonight was a huge win for our volleyball program. COS is a great team with a strong tradition. The match was a very competitive battle from start until finish. We played a very disciplined and high-level volleyball match in the first two sets. I was extremely proud of our team for bouncing back in the fifth set to play cleaner volleyball after losing the third and fourth sets. It's a tough situation to be up 2-0 and let the other team back into the game. It takes a lot of tenacity to regain the momentum like we did in the fifth set," said Head Coach Mallori Rossi.

The volleyball team expressed their appreciation from the crowd, "In challenging matches like these, it makes all the difference. We would like to personally thank each and every single fan and spectator who makes it to our games. We truly couldn't do it without the support from everyone."

Coach Rossi also added, "The crowd was a difference maker tonight. We want to thank all our amazing fans for creating an unforgettable experience. Seeing our family and friends along with local community members, administrators, faculty, and staff in the stands means the world to us. Our entire athletic department, including our administration, athletic trainer, coaches, and student athletes gave us the edge in crucial moments. Taft College is truly a special place which was very apparent tonight as our fans cheered us on until the end."

Taft College will be on the road next week on Wednesday, September 20, challenging Porterville College at 6:00 pm.
