Taft gets offensive in 3-1 CVC win at Reedley

Led by 15 kills from freshman Lauren Pau-De Santos, the Taft College women's volleyball team put together one of its best offensive matches of the season and defeated Reedley College 3-1 on Friday night.

The Cougars hit a season-best .220 for the match and also set a new season high with 51 kills on their way to the 25-15, 23-25, 25-12, 25-20 Central Valley Conference victory. The win moved Taft to 3-10 overall and 1-1 in conference play.

Taft also got huge efforts on offense, getting 11 kills each from Krystal Zavala and Madison Barcelona. Keala Skeele also had a huge match, contributing six kills, eight digs, and six blocks.

Christy Hopfe led all with 19 digs while Elisia Brown tied a season-high with 40 assists. Taylor Tuiloa also played well of the bench and chipped in with five kills, two aces, and three digs.

The Cougars are back on the road for the next match on Wednesday (Sep. 25), when they travel to West Hills College Coalinga for a 6 p.m. CVC contest.
