Women's Volleyball Begins Pre-Season
The volleyball team opens on Wednesday, 8/29/18 at the College of San Mateo. This year the team will have 7 returning players, led by 1st team outside hitter, Erin Fujitani. Another key player is our own Taft High graduate, honorable mention libero, Allison Mizener. They will be joined by 7 freshman. Although this seems like an even split, there will be tremendous pressure put on our freshman to learn to compete at this level. Hunter Everson, also from Taft, will be training at the setter position. This position was vacated by another Taft High School graduate and 1st team all-conference for us, Emily Salazar. Another key freshman who will bring competition to the court is Keala Skeele.
This year's team should be very competitive. There is a bit more depth than we had last year. It will take competition amongst themselves to help prepare them for game day. This is a very kind, cohesive team. There is good leadership. They will just need to continue to polish their skills and build their confidence for this level of play.
