TC Volleyball Team Looking to Bounce Back

Taft College's volleyball team hopes to bounce back in the Central Valley Conference chase Wednesday night when the Cougars host West Hills- Coalinga. 

First serve in Al Baldock Cougar Sports Center is at 6 p.m. 

The Cougars dropped to 5-4 in the conference (8-13 overall) when they were swept by undefeated league-leader Fresno City College last Friday. 

The scores were 21-25, 22-25 and 15-25. 

Freshman outside hitter Erin Fujtani had a solid game with a team-high nine kills to go with her 11 digs on defense. 

Madison Dougerty, a freshman from Ridgeview High in Bakersfield, had four kills and 13 digs.

Another former Wild-cat, Emily Salazar, tossed up 21 assists as the team's setter and added four defensive digs and a kill. 

Also, Jazlyn Bulatao had three kills and five digs, Luse Lumas three kills and two blocks, Makanalani Cardus-Kane contributed two kills and Kaylee Neher two digs. 

Powering the Rams to their consecutive CVC victory without a loss were Makayla Cervantes (12 kills, 26 digs) and Katie Emmerling (12 kills, 18 digs. 

The Rams had solid advantages in kills (46 to TC's 23) and digs (75 versus 51).
