TAFT, CA – On Friday, September 20, the Taft College Lady Cougars Women's Soccer Team faced off against Reedley College in what was anticipated to be a challenging second conference game of the season. True to expectations, the match required both teams to stay fully engaged through all 90 minutes.
Under the guidance of Taft College Head Women's Soccer Coach Lyle Martin Jr, the team focused heavily on maintaining possession—an aspect that has been a core part of our strategic approach for several weeks. The Lady Cougars excelled in controlling the ball, a testament to their hard work and adherence to tactical discipline.
Despite dominating possession and creating multiple scoring opportunities, the Lady Cougars couldn't quite find the back of the net. The match concluded with a 0-0 tie. While the team felt a tinge of disappointment at not securing a win, the focus remains on the positive takeaways and lessons learned from the game.
"As a coach, I'm proud of how our team performed. They executed our game plan well, especially in maintaining control throughout the match," stated Martin. "Every game is a learning opportunity, and we're pulling all the positives as we prepare for our upcoming home game against College of the Sequoias."
This Friday's match on September 27 promises to be an exciting one as Taft will aim to harness their strengths and convert their efforts into a win on their home turf.
