TAFT, CA – In what shaped up to be a hard-fought contest, Taft College Women's Soccer emerged victorious with a 2-0 win against a resilient Porterville College, short-handed yet relentless. Though initially sluggish, the Lady Cougars intermittently revealed flashes of their growing potential.
Chumani Garcia led the charge with her inaugural goal of the season, setting the tone for a match that gradually tilted in our favor. Rosa Martinez Leon doubled the lead in the second half, adding another layer of assurance to the scoreboard.

Despite a slow start, the Lady Cougars found their rhythm, eventually dominating possession deep in the Porterville half—giving us a glimpse of what could have been had the performance been consistent from the get-go. Yet, the key takeaway here isn't mere victory; it's the continuation of a progression narrative. Each game, each minute on the field, represents a step forward for this evolving team.

Women's Soccer Head Coach Lyle Martin, Jr. stated, "As we've said before, improvement is our primary objective. While securing a win is satisfying, the real triumph lies in the growing self-belief and confident mindset that's becoming a trademark of this Lady Cougars team. As they continue to foster this mental resilience, they're not just winning matches; they're building a foundation for future successes."

The Cougars next stop will return in home action against Fresno City College on Friday, September 22 at 3:00 pm.
