Cougars continue postseason push with 2-1 win over COS

TAFT – Freshman Delia Bocanegra scored a goal and added an assist to help lead Taft College to a 2-1 Central Valley Conference win over visiting College of the Sequoias on Friday.

The win improved the Cougars to 10-4-2 overall and 6-2-2 in conference play. TC is currently tied with Reedley College for third place in the CVC with four games remaining.

On Friday, Bocanegra knocked in her team-leading 11th goal of the season in the 20th minute to give the Cougars a 1-0 lead. COS would tie up the contest just before halftime. But in the 60th minute, sophomore Jennifer Vera scored what proved to be the game-winner off the assist from Bocanegra.

Natalia Navarro earned the victory in goal for the Cougars.

Taft continues Central Valley Conference play on Tuesday (Nov. 1) when the Cougars travel to West Hills College Lemoore for an 11 a.m. game.
