Vera, Chapman headline list of seven Taft All-CVC honorees

Following the close of the 2021 regular season, Taft College had seven members of its women's soccer team receive Central Valley Conference postseason honors by opponent coaches.

Earning top honors were freshmen Jennifer Vera and Alona Chapman. Vera was named the CVC Midfielder of the Year while Chapman was honored as the Defender of the Year.

First-team All-CVC selection for Taft were sophomore forward Devan Furukawa and freshman midfielder Samantha Valencia.

Second-team honorees included freshman goalkeeper Natalia Navarro, freshman midfielder Ashley Marquez, and sophomore forward Juliet Garcia.

Taft closed out the 2021 season with a 15-5-2 overall record and finished third in the Central Valley Conference at 8-3-1 under head coach Angelo Cutrona. The Cougars made their fourth straight postseason appearance.
