Jennifer Vera scored twice while Juliet Garcia had a goal and an assist to help lead the Taft College women's soccer team to a 4-0 victory at Irvine Valley College on Tuesday.
TC posted its third consecutive shutout and improved to 6-1 overall. TC has outscored its opponents 12-0 over the three-game stretch.
Vera scored in the 11th and 14th minutes to give Taft an early 2-0 advantage. Ashley Marquez made it a 3-0 lead with her goal in the 21st minute. And Garcia closed it out, scoring in the 67th minute to secure the win.
Devan Furukawa, Sarai Bocanegra, and Mariana Sagasta were all credited with assists. Katalina Ferguson and Natalia Navarro combined for the Cougars' fifth shutout in goal. Each had one save over 45 minutes.
Taft closes out non-conference play on Friday (Sep. 24) when the Cougars travel to Cerritos College for a 2 p.m. game.
