Carla Rodriguez Former Taft College women's soccer standout Carla Rodriguez was highlighted earlier this week in a news story about the 2020-21 Corbin University recruiting class by Victory Sports Network (link).

"I am very excited about this incoming group," said Corbin women's soccer head coach Derek Faulkner. "We are adding talented pieces to a solid group of returners. These newcomers are coming in with a mentality to compete and push themselves and the team to the next level."

According to the article, Rodriguez, a former three-sport star at Independence High School in Bakersfield, "brings unquestioned athleticism to the Warrior squad."

Taft women's soccer head coach Myisha Cutrona is proud of her former Cougar and expects her to perform well at the next level.

"Carla was a two-year soccer player for us and had an amazing sophomore season, helping us shut out Fresno City College in conference play," said Cutrona. "She began as a forward/winger then transitioned to right attacking back.  From that position, she led our team in assists with her precise long balls.  She was a great player for our team and I know she will do great things at Corban University once athletics begin again."

Corbin University is located in Salem, Oregon and competes at the NAIA level as a member of the Cascade Collegiate Conference. Faulkner enters his second season as head coach after leading Corbin to a 10-8-1 overall record in 2019.
