Cougars season comes to a close with playoff loss at Las Positas

The 2019 season came to a close for the Taft College Cougars following a 3-1 loss at No. 7-seeded Las Positas College on Saturday in Round 1 of the Northern California Regional Playoffs.

No. 10 seed Taft faced a 2-0 deficit after Las Positas got goals from Paola Barron and Raena Juarez in the 20th and 30th minutes.

The Cougars cut the lead in half thanks to a goal by Carla Salazar off the assist from Juliet Garcia Cruz in the 35th minute.

Taft went into halftime trailing 2-1 and the score stayed that way until the 65th minute. Las Positas sealed its victory and a trip to the next round of the playoffs with Barron's second goal of the contest.

The Cougars wrapped up the 2019 season with a 10-9-3 overall record and made its third consecutive postseason appearance under head coach Mysiha Cutrona. Taft finished third in the Central Valley Conference with a 5-4-1 mark.
