Women's Soccer opens pre-season

2018 Women's Soccer Preview

The women's soccer team opens their season on Wednesday, 8/29/18 at a neutral field in Clovis again Santa Rosa JC.  The Taft College women's soccer team had a rebuilding year in 2017 inching their way into playoffs with the help of sophomore leaders Lea Graham (Azusa Pacific), Aliya Chapman (CSU San Bernardino), and Rileigh Hutchins.  The Cougars enter into the 2018 season with a powerhouse returning class including defensive starters Yailene Lemus and Leslie Jimenez.  This is possibly one of the strongest returning classes and with a strong freshmen class comprised of several Kern County athletes and some out-of-staters, the expectations this season are high.  Coach Myisha Cutrona is extremely excited about the potential of this 2018 squad.  This is the first season where she feels she has a very strong starting eleven with depth on the bench giving her the flexibility to strategically rotate players within the team's formation while also allowing her to toss out new formations.  She feels if some of the standout freshmen have break out seasons, they have a good chance at the conference title and will go far in playoffs.
