TAFT, CA – After having some ups and downs during the regular golf season, the Lady Cougars of the Taft College Golf Team have their goals set for the Regionals Tournament. The tournament will be played on the course at the Yolo Fliers Golf Club in Woodland, California on November 6 and 7.

Some weeks ago on October 19, the Cougars battled in their only one allowed match at home hosting at Buena Vista Golf Club in Taft. Taft College Women's Golf Head Coach Brandi Borjon commented, "The girls were excited to play at home in front of their families and friends. Ayla Keith had a tough, slow start in the beginning of the round but pulled it together and finished the round with 2 birdies in a row, then many pars. She finished that day with an 83. Felicia Contreras came out swinging that day and battled the whole 18 holes to finish with a 98. I'm proud to say this is her second best round this season."

In another recent play, the Cougars traveled to Turlock Country Club. It wasn't quite the day they were anticipating. Coach Borjon explains, "Just like any other sport, golfers can have off days too and this was definitely an off day for both ladies. They battled incredibly but did not get the scores they wanted. Ayla Keith shot a 95. Felicia Contreras shot a 114."

"The Cougars have seen the course at Yolo fliers before and are excited to return and tear it up. We are hoping to qualify for State Championships as individuals," said Coach Borjon.

The state tournament will be held at Hunter Ranch Golf Club in Paso Robles, CA on November 12-13.
