TAFT, CA – Taft College Women's Basketball had a tremendous year this 2023-2024 season. This was the first season since 2005-2006 and 2011-2012 that Taft had a winning record. It was also the first time since those years that Taft had advanced to the second round of the State Playoffs. No program in Taft College women's basketball history has had more than 19 wins nor made it past the second round. Taft placed 4th in the Central Valley Conference with a 6-6 record. Taft College was the number one team in the State of California with the best turnaround record from 4-24 to 19-11.

This year's program, under the helm of first year Head Coach Romeo Lagmay, Jr., was led by four sophomores making an immediate impact. Returners Yareli Gomez and Brandy Edwards and transfers Celicia Enos and Siera Bradford claimed honors in the Central Valley Conference. Enos and Edwards were voted First Team All-Conference, while Gomez made Second Team All-Conference and Bradford Honorable Mention.

Enos averaged 16 points per game, leading the team and second in the conference, but she was 1st in conference with 460 points. Enos was 8th in the conference averaging 5 rebounds per game and 10th in field goal percentage. Edwards was not far behind with 436 points (2nd in conference) averaging 15 points and third in the conference. Gomez led the team in rebounding and ranked 5th in the conference averaging 8 rebounds. Bradford ranked 7th in assists, while averaging 8 points per game.

All four sophomores have been chosen to participate in the annual Women's Basketball California Community College Athletic Association Sophomore Showcase on Friday, March 15 at Chaffey College.
