FINAL STATS

TAFT, CA – There was a reason why Fresno City College is #6 in the state of California in women's basketball. The Lady Rams defeated Taft College 101-51 keeping them in first place undefeated in the Central Valley Conference.

The Rams forced 37 turnovers and scored 39 points from Taft's mistakes. The home team collected 20 steals as well. It was a long night for the Lady Cougars as they were outscored in the paint 54-24. The Cougars did display some good defensive attacks collecting 13 steals themselves, but it wasn't enough with Fresno outscoring Taft in every quarter. Fresno also showed how strong their team chemistry was by completing 33 assists. There were four Rams in double figures, but it was seven 3-pointers that made sophomore Corin Camara stand out finishing with a game high of 26 points.

Taft Head Women's Basketball Coach Romeo Lagmay, Jr. commented on the game, "They are a very tough team this year. They deserve their high ranking. We had no answer for them tonight. The only positive I can say about us is that we will fight no matter what the matchup is. That's why I will always believe in us and the special season we are having currently. We are salivating for our next opponent and the next and the next. Our approach is to put up a major fight and the let the smoke clear out with us standing."

Sophomore Celicia Enos led the team with 14 points, while fellow sophomore Brandy Edwards pumped in double digit points of her own with 11. Sophomore captain Yareli Gomez led the game with 12 rebounds.

The Cougars will host West Hills College-Lemoore on Saturday, January 20 at 3:00 pm in the Al Baldock Cougar Sports Center. All TC students, faculty and staff are free admission. Adults are $6 and Kids are $3.
