Laulu (7 points, 9 rebounds) leads Taft in loss at AVC

The Taft College women's basketball team closed out opening weekend on Saturday, falling again to Antelope Valley College by a final score of 66-27. The loss in Lancaster closed out a two-game series with the Marauders.

The Cougars shooting went cold in the game as TC made just 8 of 67 shots on the afternoon. With the scored tied 3-3 early in the contest, Antelope Valley closed out the first quarter with a 13-0 run to take a commanding 16-3 advantage.

Freshman Mahaila Laulu led the Cougars with 7 points and 9 rebounds. Freshman Bree Johansen also put up 7 points while sophomore Sydney Taylor and freshman Morgan Pulido both grabbed 9 rebounds.

Taft (0-2) is still in search of its first win and will get its next shot on Friday (Mar. 12) when the Cougars travel to Cuesta College for a 4 p.m. game. TC is back home on March 18 to host Bakersfield College.
