Visiting College of the Sequoias showed why it's the No. 3 ranked team in Northern California. Taft College had a difficult time keeping up with the Giants and suffered a 106-29 loss on Saturday night.

The Central Valley Conference defeat dropped the Cougars to 4-15 overall and 1-6 in the CVC.

Sequoias set the tone early, using a 13-0 run midway through the first quarter to take a commanding 18-1 lead. COS was up 29-5 after the first and held a 54-19 advantage at halftime.

Deja Derrell came off the bench to score a team-high 11 points for the Cougars. Deja Frenchwood added 10 points and 6 rebounds while Sara Martin led Taft with 7 boards.

Taft will look to snap a two-game losing streak on Wednesday (Feb. 6) at 6 p.m. when the Cougars travel to Reedley College for a Central Valley Conference contest.
