Taft softball's Gabrielle Brixey inducted into WHCC Hall of Fame

COALINGA – Taft College softball head coach Gabrielle Brixey was inducted into the West Hills College Coalinga Athletic Hall of Fame. The induction ceremony was held on Saturday at the WHCC Gymnasium.

Gabrielle "Gaby" Brixey played softball at West Hills College Coalinga from 2008-2010 after graduating from Coalinga High School where she lettered in three sports.

During her time at WHCC, Brixey started as a centerfielder for the softball program. She earned many honors during her time at West Hills College Coalinga, including two-time Central Valley First Team All-Conference, MVP, Gold Glove and team captain.

After West Hills, Brixey went on to finish her degree and continue playing softball at Lesley University, located in Cambridge, Mass. There, she helped lead her team to two New England College Conference (NECC) championships and two NCAA Division III tournament appearances. She was twice named first team All-NECC outfielder, was named to the 2012 NFCA All-New England third-team, and was a 2012 NEISCA Honorable Mention All-Star selection.

Brixey earned her bachelor's in business management with an emphasis of sports management from Lesley University in 2012, and has a master's in business administration (Ottawa University 2013) as well as a master's in communication (Southern New Hampshire 2017).

In 2013, Brixey joined the WHCC softball coaching staff, serving four years under head coach Staci Mosher.  Currently, she is the head softball coach at Taft College where she has served for five years (2018-present).


Joining Brixey at the Hall of Fame ceremony were TC softball assistant coach Morgan Atkinson, academic advisor Tony Thompson, and athletic director Kanoe Bandy.
