Hale earns All-Central Valley Conference softball honors

2021 All-CVC Softball Awards

Taft College freshman pitcher Gillian Hale was named to the 2021 All-Central Valley Conference postseason softball team as the awards were officially announced by the conference on Tuesday.

Hale, originally from Mnandi, South Africa, was the Cougars' lone representative on the All-CVC team and earned honorable mention honors.

TC had its season called off midway through the season due to not enough players and competed in just eight games this spring. Hale pitched in all eight, starting seven games in the circle. Over 37 2/3 innings, she struck out 22 batters. She ended the season with a 1-5 record and 5.58 earned run average.

Taft went 1-7 overall this season, winning what would end up being its final game 13-5 at Merced College on April 22. Hale earned the victory, allowing three earned runs and just three hits in the five-inning, complete-game effort.

Hale was in her second season with the program, pitching in 2020 for the Cougars before that season was also cut short by the pandemic.
