Taft home opener ruined by visiting Sequoias

It's been over 400 days since the Taft College softball team played a game at home. A pair of cancellations early in the season also delayed a return to home even more. But the Cougars finally hit the field only to have the occasion spoiled by College of the Sequoias. On Tuesday, Taft dropped a doubleheader to COS, falling by scores of 9-0 and 8-0 in a pair of five-inning games.

The Cougars managed just three hits in the opener and totaled four hits in Game 2. Arianna Forthman had a good game at the plate for TC, going 2 for 2 in the second contest.

Gillian Hale pitched both games of the doubleheader. She allowed four earned runs in each contest and totaled seven strikeouts on the day.

TC, now 1-5 overall and 1-3 in the Central Valley Conference, will look to get back on track on Friday (May 7) when the Cougars travel to Fresno City College for a CVC doubleheader that is scheduled to start at 11 a.m.
