It was a great day for Taft College's four sophomores as well as the rest of the Cougar softball team. On Monday, the program honored sophomores Allie Dobbs, Jessica Silva, Jade Martinez, and Paige Wagner before going on to defeat West Hills College Coalinga by a final score of 11-2 in six innings.

Dobbs celebrated by driving in a game-high four runs while smacking her state-leading 13th home run of the season. Her sacrifice fly in the first inning allowed Martinez to score the game's first run while Dobbs' bases-loaded walk in the second forced in Wagner.

Dobbs closed out the scoring with a two-run homer in the sixth to end the ball game.

Calli Martin also had a good game at the plate for the Cougars with 3 RBI. She smacked a two-run double as part of a big six-run, second-inning. Wagner collected her first hit and RBI of the season while Isabelle Martinez also drove in a run.

Abrianna Carr was credited with the win after tossing three scoreless innings. She struck out two and allowed just one hit.

The win improved the Cougars to 10-25 overall and 2-14 in Central Valley Conference play. Taft closes out the regular season with five games on the road. The Cougars will travel to West Hills Coalinga for a CVC doubleheader on Tuesday (Apr. 16) starting at 11 a.m.
