Taft College sophomore Allie Dobbs had a day to remember. The recent Cal State Bakersfield signee slugged her way out of an early season slump, smashing three home runs to help lead the Cougars to a doubleheader sweep of Gavilan College at home on Tuesday.

Dobbs went deep twice and drove in three runs in a 13-4 opening-game win over the Rams and kept the power surge going in Game 2 with a two-run home run in Taft's 16-8 rout.

Dobbs had just three hits over her previous 18 at bats, but went a combined 3 for 6 with 5 RBI in today's contests. She also scored four runs and added a pair of walks.

But it wasn't just Dobbs that had big games at the plate. Taft totaled 24 hits over the two-game set, collecting 10 in a five-inning Game 1 and 14 in Game 2 that lasted six innings.

Victoria Rosales went 2 for 4 in the opening-game, driving in three runs while scoring twice and stealing two bases. In Game 2, it was Morgan Thomas' time to shine as she went 2 for 3 with 4 RBI. She walked twice and scored three runs.

Also in Game 2, Cierra Papademetriou (1 for 3, 2 BB), Beige Reinhardt 2 for 5, 3B), and Isabelle Martinez (2 for 4) all drove in two runs each while Kaitlyn Allen reached base five times, going a perfect 3 for 3 at the plate with two walks.

In the circle for the Cougars, Abrianna Carr went the distance in the opener for the victory. She allowed four runs and eight hits. Isabelle Martinez picked up the win in the second game, giving up four earned runs and 10 hits over 5 1/3 innings.

The pair of victories evened up Taft's record at 5-5 overall. The Cougars return to action on Tuesday (Feb. 19) when they host Bakersfield College in a non-conference doubleheader, starting at 12 p.m.
