Taft College Falls to Bakersfield College in Season Opener

Taft College finally hit the field Thursday night for their season opener at Bakersfield College, for a 5pm start.

In the first inning Taft was able to get a couple runners on with a lead-off walk by Tiana Cantero-Kawelo. Brinley Rosenberger was able to move her over with a sacrifice bunt and Cantero-Kawelo was able to get to third. Kelsey Wilmer was able to get on first base with a walk but the lady Cougars were unable to push the run across. Bakersfield College struck first in the second inning and was able to get three runs in.

Taft brought the bats to life in the 6th inning with a lead-off single by Cantero-Kawelo and a hit by Sonja Lawrence but were again, unable to get home. Andrea Garner pitched the entire game allowing seven hits while striking out two.

 Taft College will travel to Hartnell College on Tuesday, February 14 for doubleheader action at 12:30 and 2:30.
