John began his coaching career in 1995 going back to his alma mater assisting the boy’s varsity soccer team for 2 seasons. He spent two summers coaching for Nike at their youth soccer summer camps where he worked with top Div I and Div II college players as well as some of today’s MLS players.

In 2006 John joined the Taft College soccer staff as the assistant coach for both the men’s and women’s soccer program. In his first season as the assistant for the men’s program, he helped the team earn first place in the Central Valley Conference, finish #2 in the state, and #4 in the nation. In his second season he helped the team to a state championship and a final national ranking of #2.   

On the women’s side, John has helped head coach Myisha Cutrona (his sister) build a program that has taken 2nd place in the Central Valley Conference the past two seasons.

John has been playing soccer for over 27 years. He grew up playing soccer in Long Beach with some of the top clubs including the Long Beach Cougars, Cerritos Corinthians, and the South Bay Santos.

He had the opportunity to compete in Japan with a team comprised of all the top players in Southern California.  He graduated from Long Beach Wilson High School where he was team captain for two seasons, 1st team All Moore League for three years, Moore League MVP one year, and 1st team All CIF.  He was MVP of the Cal all-star game and he also played in the Puma Classic all-star game.  John continued on to play two seasons for Long Beach City College where he was the starting sweeper, team captain, and an all- SCC selection. He finished his collegiate career at Cal State Dominguez Hills.
