Angelo Cutrona started his coaching career volunteering as a youth soccer coach for several club teams in Southern California in 1996.  He later moved to the collegiate level in 2000 as the assistant coach for Fullerton College.  He was the assistant coach for two seasons before he found his home at Taft College.

Angelo began at Taft College in 2002.  In his first season, he coached his team to a winning record and a spot in play offs.  Over the next couple of seasons he kept the same enthusiasm and intensity coaching his teams to the 2nd round of playoffs in 2005.  By 2006 Angelo helped his team find their way to the State Finals.  That season they held an 18-4-3 record, but fell short in the finals.  In 2007, Angelo made his way back to the State Championship and left with the Title. He continued the same momentum in 2008 and 2009, making it to the quarterfinals and State Championship for the third season.  In the past four seasons, his team has been ranked in the top 10 nationally, and has taken the Central Valley Conference Title twice.

Angelo’s success with his team has not gone unnoticed.  He has been named Central Valley Coach of the year twice, has been nominated for National Coach of the Year, and was named the West Regional Community College Coach of the Year in 2009.

Angelo has been involved in soccer for over 27 years.  He graduated from Orange High School in 1997 where he played with players who are now on the U.S. national team.  He earned freshman MVP and won two Century League titles. He also helped his team earn the CIF championship in 1996 as the starting left back.  He continued on playing at Fullerton College where he earned second team and first team All- Area awards. Angelo is proud to have gone through the Community College route and feels like he can relate his experiences with his players now.  He then went on and completed his collegiate career at Cal State University of Dominguez Hills where they were the 2000 Division II National Champions.

Other assets that Angelo has brought to the table alongside his coaching and playing experience is his ability to speak three languages.  He speaks Spanish, Italian, and English which allows him to relate to several cultures within the Kern County soccer community.

Angelo graduated from CSU Dominguez Hills with a Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Education / Teaching Option.  He continued his education at Fresno Pacific University earning a Master’s Degree in Kinesiology.
