Taft College continued their winning ways against conference opponent College of Sequoias on Friday, Oct. 6 with a 3-1 victory at home. Taft dominated possession and chances in the first half resulting in freshmen Hugo Magana opening the scoring in the 20th minute while netting his 8th goal of the season off an assist by Gilbert Cervantes. In the second half Magana doubled his total on the day when he scored in the 64th minute off a nice ball played by Alan Perez giving the Cougars a 2-0 lead. In the 70th minute, COS was given a little life with a goal coming from a free kick making the game 2-1. The Giant's hope was snuffed out in the 85th minute when Magana got his third goal of the game on an assist from Alexander Cabrera. Magana's hat trick helped Taft win their second consecutive conference game and Magana moved up to 3rd in the state in scoring with 10 goals on the season. The Cougars continue Wednesday October 11th at home vs Pasadena City College at 3:00 pm.
