Chavez finishes ninth, Postiff 28th at NorCal Championships

Taft College sophomore Garrison Chavez turned in a two-round score of 153 to tie for ninth place while freshman Jacob Postiff shot 161 to tie for 28th place at the Northern California Championships on Monday. The event took place at the Yolo Fliers Club Golf Course in Woodland and was hosted by Sierra College.

Chavez shot an impressive even par 72 in the morning round but faltered in the afternoon with an 81 card to finish at +9 for the day. Thanks to his showing, Chavez has qualified for next week's California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) Men's Golf State Championship. The tournament is scheduled for May 13 at the Silverado Resort & Spa Golf Course in Napa.

Postiff saw his season come to a close after shooting an early-round 83 before shaving off five strokes in the afternoon with a 78 card to end at +17.

Chavez and Postiff were the lone Cougars to compete at the NorCal Championships.
